QSound
isn’t that popular in the industry. Sonnox, WAVES, and other
companies are more widely known. However, it is QSound that we would
like to focus on today. Although used in products by all sorts of
companies, I noticed that their technology pdfs had pics of VAIO
computers. There must have been an agreement between them at some
point, including the SSMSFilter (which cannot be used) and for the
2.x SSMS series. However it is difficult to figure that out.
Their
QMSS plugin for VAIO is most helpful as most audio is not in 5.1
channel format (Sony video cameras can record 5.1 channel surround)
which is QSurround’s focus. Sometimes there will not be a
noticeable effect if the original recording itself is badly recorded.
Therefore, only use QMSS on most recordings and make sure your
settings on SSMS allow 5.1 channel output; otherwise you won’t hear
the difference at all.
